Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining job site and material so it’s organized and well-drained
  • Using the bucket or forks to unload and load material onto trucks or within a job site
  • Digging trenches for footers, gas, sewer, and water pipe
  • Leveling dirt and stone in trenches and small areas

Excavator Operator

Works a tracked excavator. Primary functions are diverged between two crews: earth moving or pipe. Both teams need grading slopes and digging trenches to preset grades that meet OSHA conditions for safe benching/shoring or trench shields.

Dirt Crew Responsibilities:

  • Efficient loading of earth and rock into dump trucks for bulk earthmoving operations
  • Land clearing
  • Grubbing
  • Demolition

May also work with a variety of attachments (hydraulic breaker, hydraulic tamper, grapple, stump splitter, etc.)

Pipe Crew Responsibilities:

  • Excavate for sanitary, storm sewer and water system installations.
  • Utilizes trench shields (including double-stacked boxes) and bedding boxes
  • Moves and sets the stone and trench boxes
  • Sets manholes, inlets and other structures

Dozer Operator

Works a track-type tractor with a blade to move earth and other materials for building roads, ponds, building areas, etc. Many of our dozers are fitted with GPS. This helps the operator see where cuts and fills need to be instead of using grade stakes.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining organized, neatly graded and well drained job site according to plans
  • Stripping and grading topsoil
  • Building and grading swales and berms
  • Pushing scrapers
